  • Proficient in the ESRI ArcGIS software to conduct geo-spatial analysis, manage databases and metadata, and produce maps as a Geography student specializing in GIS at UBC.

​Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (formerly Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency)

​

  • Drafts cumulative effects summaries for 5 valued components, including Species At Risk Act species, for the environmental assessment report of the Sukunka Coal Mine Project.

  • Prepares correspondence to Indigenous groups, project proponents, and other Federal Authorities about transitional provisions under the new Impact Assessment Act, which demonstrated professional writing abilities.

  • Demonstrates sound judgement by performing conformity check for an initial Project Description.

  • Supports Project Managers and team through various administrative duties, including creating a Note to Files Tracker and Transition Letter Tracker, updating contact lists, and maintaining electronic project files, which improved my informational management and organizational skills.

GIScience Curriculum Renewal Project Worker

University of British Columbia

  • Developed teaching materials for 7 essential modules for introductory GIScience courses in the form of online exercises, in-class activities, and video in a timely manner.

  • Acquired research and analysis abilities by conducting an environmental scan of the delivery of Geographic Information Science courses in 25 universities and post-secondary institutions.

  • Compiled and produced an executive summary report summarizing the results of the environmental scan for the Department of Geography as the basis for curriculum renewal; developed written communication skill from this experience.

  • Gave a presentation at the GIScience Curriculum Renewal Committee meeting to 7 faculty and staffs. Gain confidence in public speaking and experience creating presentation with PowerPoint.

Student Ambassador (Co-op)

Downtown New West Business Improvement Association

  • Took the initiative to lead the event mapping process and created site plans for 10 stakeholders.

  • Created and maintained a database for 400 businesses in Downtown New Westminster, gaining skills in data gathering and attention to detail.

  • Served as the first point of contact for 80+ food trucks owners through constant emails and phone calls for the Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Festival, which attracted 100,000+ people to participate.

  • GIScience in Research (GEOB 479): Conducted a GIS analysis that examines the changes in the distribution of white spruce in the Ontario-Quebec region under different climate conditions. Received a grade of ‘A-’ for the course.

  • Advanced Issues in GI Science (GEOB 370): Conducted a GIS analysis on the potential of installing rooftop solar panels in my neighbourhood by collecting and analyzing geospatial data, including Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data. Received a grade of ‘A+’ for the project.

  • Economics of the Environment (ECON 371): Preformed economic analysis of environmental problems using cost-benefit analysis, and explored different approaches to environmental policy. Received a grade of ‘A’ for the course.

Communication and Outreach Coordinator

  • Acquired oral communication and time organizational skills through coordinating and participating in canvassing, boothing and classroom announcement sessions to promote climate actions.

  • Established monthly-newsletter and event reminder emails for a subscriber base of 1,000 people.

  • Led a team of 6 to create promotional content for club campaigns, such as fundraisers for Pull Together, via social media platforms and website, demonstrating my written communication skill.

  • Facilitated bi-weekly meetings, created agendas, wrote meeting minutes, developed communication plans and ensured their execution.

The Wilderness Committee

  • Led meaningful conversations through door-to-door canvassing and educated the public about environmental issues, such as the need for British Columbia to implement endangered species law.

  • Maintained relationships with previous donors by addressing their questions and updating them on the different environmental campaigns in a kind and friendly demeanour.

  • Advocated on behalf of the Wilderness Committee with the goal of increasing the level of donations.
